Discover Ascension

Different walks of life. Multi-generational. Unique backgrounds. These are certainly appropriate descriptions of the people of Ascension Lutheran Church.

We are a family.

But most importantly, we are a community that is united in faith and fellowship. We joyfully come together to worship God: hearing His Word and receiving His Sacraments that deliver peace, forgiveness, freedom, and salvation. We care for one another. We support one another.

We are Lutheran.

What does that mean? It means we believe, teach, and confess the truths of God's Word as they are summarized and confessed in the Book of Concord (click here for an overview). We are a part of the Michigan District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

We serve people from many communities including Lansing, East Lansing, Bath, Haslett, Williamston, Okemos, Mason, Dimondale, Holt, and DeWitt.

Our Vision

At Ascension Lutheran Church, people of all ages worship together, actively glorifying God with Music of prayer and praise. Worshipers receive the grace of God delivered by the pastor through the Word and Sacraments. While liturgical in style, modified forms of worship are utilized as the complexion of the congregation changes.

By actively participating in a variety of learning opportunities, people of all ages are growing and living daily according to God's Word. (2 Timothy 3:16)

We are dedicated to taking Jesus to the people in our community and beyond. We regularly invite people to join us in worship and other activities. Our church is known as a place of welcome for children, youth and adults. In every activity or event, visitors are greeted warmly.

We reflect God's love as we share it and live with the people we encounter every day, building relationships through activities and mutual encouragement.

We use our spiritual gifts and material blessings to serve one another in the name of Jesus and to touch the lives of those in need with the love of Jesus freely given through care and encouragement.
